Seeking applicants for a Director of Prospect Management capable of providing vision and direction to our moves management process with donors of the College. This position is an essential member of the Advancement Office responsible for data analysis, strategy development, and prospect management, while capable of working with a small group of donors. Candidates should exhibit a high level of integrity, be results-driven, and self-motivated.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Major & Planned Gifts, this position provides key input to the giving team that is responsible for major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation giving, and leadership level giving to the College. The Director creates strategies to utilize acquired prospect and donor information to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward engaged relationships in support of the College.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prospect and Portfolio Management: Oversee all aspects of prospect management. Lead monthly moves management meetings and quarterly portfolio reviews with gift officers. Ensure that actions, contacts, and opportunities are entered into our database. Manage the assignment of prospects with the Executive Director. Enhance prospect pipeline to provide accountability and ensure that assigned prospects are moving through the donor cycle.
  • Prospect Identification and Research: Implement a program of quality prospect research (biographical, financial, business, and philanthropic) to support cultivation and solicitation for individuals, corporations, and foundations. Manage alerts and other proactive research tools to update gift officers. Guide our external screening process in collaboration with Advancement Services staff.
  • Prospect Strategy: Provide quantitative analysis of pipeline activity and movement. Design and create reports and dashboards to help monitor and track fundraising performance towards goals. Collaborate with Advancement Services to make database recommendations and modifications.
  • Portfolio Management: As appropriate, manage a small portfolio of 25-30 assigned donors and prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience working in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity, maturity, and sound judgement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and research skills.
  • Fluent in computer technologies, including web queries, retrieving and manipulating complex datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently setting up effective systems and workflows that meet outcome expectations.
  • Fundraising experience is preferred. The size and scope of the donor portfolio for this position is flexible, and will depend upon the skill set of the candidate.
  • Understanding of higher education and familiarity with Carthage College preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills. Trustworthy with sensitive information. Ability to identify and articulate insights regarding prospect motivations and concerns. Proven project management and analytical skills, particularly planning, managing deadlines, and evaluating progress. Ability to identify and rally needed resources to execute responsibilities and establish collaborative relationships with campus colleagues. Knowledge of constituent databases, Microsoft Office, and other computer software.
  • Travel: The position requires minimal travel.
  • The scope of the job requires occasional attendance at evening and/or weekend activities, meetings, events, seminars and workshops, etc.
