The Director of Human Resources is a Critical Role in the Mission:

The Director of HR plays a vital role in building and sustaining a strong, engaged workforce that is essential for fulfilling the mission of Guest House of Milwaukee in creating lasting change for individuals facing housing insecurity.

• Talent Acquisition: The Director of HR will attract and retain top talent, ensuring the organization has skilled staff committed to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable community members.
• Policy Development: By implementing and enforcing personnel policies, the Director ensures compliance with regulations while fostering an environment that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
• Employee Development: Focused on training and professional growth, the Director helps staff build the skills necessary to provide high-quality services, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization's programs.
• Employee Relations: Serving as a mediator for employee concerns, the Director fosters a positive workplace culture that enhances morale and productivity, vital for maintaining a motivated team in a challenging field.
• Performance Management: By guiding managers through performance reviews and strategies, the Director ensures that employee goals align with organizational objectives, promoting continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Safety and Compliance: The Director oversees safety training and compliance, ensuring a safe working environment that allows staff to focus on their mission without unnecessary risk.
• Strategic HR Initiatives: Partnering with leadership, the Director provides insights from HR analytics to inform decision-making and align HR strategies with the organization's long-term goals, reinforcing its mission.
• Employee Engagement: By planning events and activities that boost morale, the Director cultivates a sense of community and commitment among staff.
• HRIS Management: Effective management of HR data supports strategic decision-making and operational efficiency, ensuring the organization can respond effectively to the needs of both employees and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with previous experience in a non-profit desired.
• Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
• Previous management experience a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals at all levels.
• High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities efficiently and appropriately.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and company policies to various HR scenarios.
• Maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and reliable transportation.
